Octopuses are among the few creatures in the animal kingdom that can change color. They change their skin tone using numerous color-changing cells called chromatophores located just below the surface of the skin. Typically, they do this to hide from predators, but they may also do it to communicate with each other.
A new video from PBS now shows an octopus named Heidi changing color while she is (possibly) dreaming. Watch the cool video clip narrated by Dr. David Scheel here:
